General Meeting Minutes- August 2025

MEETING MINUTES
Current Business
Haley reported on the following items:
Virtual Option - Possibility of adding a google meet option to the invitations
Last Months Donations - $250 Amazon order providing leashes, eye wipes, collars, & treats to the shelter (and for National Night Out Event donations).
Adoption Sponsor- We were able to sponsor our first shelter adoption next week, and still have 3 sponsorships available we will be advertising at Septemberfest next week. Went over current dogs and cats in the shelter.
Donation Jars - Collected $170 this month from donation jars, we made around $100 at National Night Out and next year it may not be worth it for us to have a booth there, but instead to just volunteer with the shelter to help with the animals at the event.
Community Post- Will be doing a Facebook Post thanking the community for their donations around town.
Fall Marketing - In September will change out jar labels and flyers around town from summer marketing to fall themed marketing. Will also be doing a halloween photo contest through social media with small prizes as well in October. Haley has upcoming meeting with Tractor Supply to talk about partnering with them for donations and community partnerships.
Christen reported on the following items:
Upcoming Events- We will have booths at Septemberfest, Oktoberfest, and the December Craft Fair. Currently have 2 giveaways for each event ready, but trying to secure 1 more for each event. At Septemberfest plan to give: Wine Tasting Certificate, 2 Tickets to Glenwood Hot Springs, & Gift Card to The Valley Steakhouse in Vernal.
Fur Factory- They have kindly offered to groom the animals before an adoption event so they can be clean for these events. Curious on what the grooming protocols are for current animals at the shelter?
Meetings 2026- Next year we will host quarterly meetings vs monthly meetings. Will announce those dates at our December 2025 meeting.
Volunteer Schedule- Kelly Christian is posting a Volunteer schedule on the cork board in the office at the shelter.
Open Discussion
Don brought up possible location for a new shelter- is Tractor Supply contact still willing to Donate? Also other areas of possibility. Also mentioned that he had spoke with Allen (the new town manager) and had mentioned the shelter. Don to follow up and try and set us an appointment with Allen.
Haley mentioned that the chamber of commerce emailed 4R Animals about a survey they wanted to send out to the public regarding a new shelter and asked for our input.
Discussion with Vicki about her offer to utilize her place for a free space for shelter dogs to run. Will follow up with her separately.
We could use volunteers for our booths at the upcoming events.
Still waiting to hear back from a few locations for donations: Massage Envy, Iron Mountain, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, and Glenwood Caverns. Will have an update at the next meeting. Wanting to also try and ask more businesses in person in Vernal versus the mail and email marketing.
Also, idea for events where dogs are present- we could offer free tickets to our giveaways if someone walks a shelter dog.
